What I liked about having my own little garden is that I can use them for my cooking! (I know someone would ask me, hey where is a flower? Currently only edible flowers are allowed in my garden!)
It’s good to see they are growing, and a little sad after harvest. But don’t worry, they are stronger than we think they are. Spread roots and grow more before we can finish the last harvest!
To admire my cute little perilla, I paired up with sour plum pickles and tada! You can finish rice, noodles, tofu, anything you put this topping on!

Slimy Avocado Topping in Wasabi Ume Flavor
<Ingredients>
- 5~7 small okra – boiled and chopped
- 1 small avocado – chopped
- 1 thin slice of red onion – finely chopped
- 2 tablespoon gel soba sauce from this recipe
- 1 large sour plum pickle(umeboshi) – mashed
- 1 inch tubed wasapi paste
Topping
- 3~5 perilla leaves – thinly shredded
- Some roasted seaweed – finely shredded
<Directions>
- Bring all ingredients together except for topping and mix well.
- Top with perilla leaves and roasted seaweed. Enjoy!
Mmm, great! This is supposed to be a topping to finish my bowl of rice, but I think they are the main on my dining table!
