Tofu Steak Okonomi Flavor

Low calories, plant based, less oil version of steak! Steaks are one of the menus whenever there is a celebration in our household, and even after I’ve decided to be on a vegetarian diet, sometimes I want to eat steaks, especially when there is something to celebrate. 

 

When I was a total carnivore, I hate people who call plant-based food “steak,” “meatloaf”, or “niku-jaga” without containing any meat because I felt it’s missing a piece on a big jigsaw puzzle. But after 3 years of trying to be on a vegetarian diet, I got used to it and enjoyed plant-based food without any complaint. To centralize our healthy diet, choosing a plant-based food can be a good choice(just watch for salt amount!) without suffering a huge food coma, so here is how to enjoy tofu steak with our favorite soul food: okonomiyaki!

<Ingredients>

<Directions>

  1. Combine water, potato starch, flour, bonito soup stock, and cayenne pepper together in a mixing bowl to make a dough.
  2. Coat tofu with the dough.
  3. Pour olive oil in a pan. Put tofu and cook until the outside is crispy. Flip and continue.
  4. Transfer the tofu to a plate and spread mayo, okonomi sauce, and sprinkle scallion. Enjoy!

Mmm, good! Fluffy and silky tofu turns to the great main dish of the day! 

I made it for my lunch, and I think nature loved the steak since the lighting spotted on my yummy steak! Lol

    My wife and I do vegan two days a week…a way to cut back on our meal, and for the other five days we rely heavily on salmon…that said, this dish sounds great because you have an Umami taste going which offers the same satisfaction as a steak – nice job!
