While a lot of people learn cooking from YouTube, books, magazines, TV programs, I believe the first one who taught you cooking is your mom. They are the first one to feed you, the first one to let you try the new food, and share the eating happiness since you are little so that you’d never know you are a great cook after several years.
Today’s food is from my mom’s repertoire, that appeared on our dining table a lot. It’s so simple, easy and quick to make, but this is the first one to be gone into our stomach even though there’s more gorgeous looking food on the table. Refreshing, little side dish is such a great helper to make the meal complete, so cook some and appreciate the food you eat:)
Cucumber Bonito Ginger
- 1/2 large cucumber
- Some salt
- Some bonito flakes
- Some ginger – shredded
- Finely slice the cucumber by using a slicer. Sprinkle some salt and let it sit for a while.
- Squeeze the water that appeared from the cucumber and transfer them into a small bowl.
- Garnish with bonito flakes and ginger. If you like more flavor, pour a little soy sauce over the cucumber. Enjoy!
Mmm, I miss my mom’s food now! I used to eat this one before my dad came home, and my mom sometimes had to make it again for another batch. Now I make this for appetizer and sometimes I have to make another batch for single meal…well, I’m glad this is so easy to make and requires very little ingredients:D
