Happy International Animation Day! Did you know, today is the day to appreciate the thing we all grew up watching: Animation!
I’m from the country where is being well-known for anime, manga, or anything related to that pop culture field, so when people knew I’m from Japan, they start to ask about the specific animation. I’m also a huge anime fanatic and so is my dinner buddy, so this question is the trigger to take us into a huge discussion:
“What is your favorite animation?”

Especially if I should choose just one movie as my favorite from Studio Ghibli, well, you are asking too hard question to answer. When I was a kid, I always watch My Neighbor’s Totoro, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Laputa in the Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away…oh wait, I’m not intending to list up all the movies from Ghibli! But honestly, choosing just one is hard because every time I watch them, they give different points of view. And, they all got scenes to make us drool…I never met people didn’t feel it when watching Ghibli movies!
Since this is International Animation Day and I’m a foodie, let’s make some easy, simple but yummy food inspired by anime!
<Today’s Recipe>
Laputa Pan
<Ingredients>*1 serving
- 1 sandwich bread
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Some salt and pepper
<Directions>
- Toast bread.
- Make a sunny side up with a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
- Place the sunny side up on the bread. Enjoy!
While I’m eating this, I’m Sheeta! Even after more than 30 years of the first release, they’ve got huge fans all around the world.
Hmm, I think I should watch it tonight with the late night snack of laputa pan!
So, I’m dropping a big question to you now.

Hmm…to answer your question, I’d cite two titles: Chuka Ichiban (Cooking Master Boy) and Yakitate!! Japan. Both shows were aired in the Philippines, although dubbed in Filipino.

OMG I know these two of your fav anime!🤣 I think there are many season for Chuka Ichiban, so I’m not sure I’m keeping up to date though🤔 We Japanese always surprised anime dubbed in other languages because we almost never knew it’s popular in other countries too😊

I am not a big anime fan but I love all of the Ghilbli movies you mentioned. I watched 4 out of the 6, and my ultimate favorite is My Neighbor Totoro. And my most ultimate favorite meal is fried egg and toast. When I was working from home, I had it every time in different versions. So simple but so comforting! 🙂

Yay my husband is also a huge fan of Totoro! He still keeps a couple of stuffed animals😂 And I agree, egg and toasts are a golden combo, simple and the best❤️✨🍳🍞
