Happy National Pi Day! Yes, as you can guess, today is 3/14, the same number of pie!
I bet a lot of people bake some pie to enjoy today’s unique number line, but let me ask you…Do you always use up your pie dough? I sometimes get leftover pie dough. Sometimes it’s enough to make some pies in muffin size, but sometimes not enough to cover pies for everyone.
This is super easy that I again feel a little embarrassed to call it a recipe, but yeah I’m making some pie so it’s called a recipe. I think even small kids can help making it, so how about planning to make this for upcoming weekend’s kitchen activity?
Here is a recipe, so let’s cook!

- Preheat an oven to 375ºF.
- Using cookie cutters, cut the pie dough in your favorite shape and set aside.
- Place fillings on the center of the dough and put another pie dough.
- Spread parchment sheet on a baking pan and bake it until they’re golden brown.
- Do not overfill the fillings.
- If the pie is a bite size, 5 min was enough but adjust the baking time depending on how big your pie is.
Sigh…I made them a bite size so they were all gone before I knew it! I offered them to my dinner buddy who was watching a movie in the living room, and he didn’t even know when they all disappeared into his stomach.
A little fun story about 3/14/3.14/π
Today is a very popular date for a lot of couples getting married. π doesn’t have the end so they hope their love never ends as well. Is it the same in your country too?
When you were in elementary school, what number was π? My case was 3.14 but a few years later the government decided to teach it as 3 for elementary school kids, a much easier number when they have a pop quiz in math class. I still think some of my pop quizzes got better grades if the π was just 3.
When I was in elementary school, there was a boy who claimed he could state the longest numbers of π. But unfortunately, only he knew the correct number so we just waited until he stopped. I wonder if he still remembers the π or breaking his own record.
Do you have any fun story relates to Pi(π)? Let’s have some fun together!
