Happy first day of summer and National Smoothie Day!
Yes it’s officially Summer, so why don’t we celebrate it with a nice cold smoothie? You’ve been using your blender for making soup for the last several months to make cozy warm soup, but it will be making your refreshing drinks. Now bring it from your pantry and turn on the switch!
Ready to check the recipes for smoothie of the day? Let’s cook!

- 3 oranges – peeled and trimmed
- 1 medium carrot – peeled
- ½ lime for juice
- 1 cup ice cubes
<Directions>
- Put all ingredients together in a blender and turn on the switch until they are smooth.
- Transfer them to a glass and garnish with sliced lime. Enjoy!
Mmm, so good! Until last summer I hesitated to add carrot in my drinks, but it wasn’t bad at all.
I haven’t tried adding kale or spinach to my smoothie yet, but I think they will be soon. Or have you tried it before? If so, was it yay or nay?
<Speaking about Summer>
My blogger friends and Instagram friends are also complaining that this year’s summer has come too early. I know people who live in Southern CA or Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada say that too, but even in Canada it has reached 3 digits of temperature already.
Wait, it’s still June. I wonder if it’s possible to go over 110F? Or possibly more?
Guys, don’t forget to drink plenty of water, smoothie, tea, or whatever you feel like. Just be careful with alcoholic drinks, coffee or specific fruit juice. They make you want to pee more so that you’ll be dehydrated!

Here in northern Arizona our summer came late and this year it’s definitely cooler so far. I keep strawberries in the freezer so my smoothies are very fresh tasting with a deep strawberry taste. I’ve never used a carrot in a smoothie, I’ll bet it adds an unexpected sweetness, I look forward to trying it.
As to your question asking about reaching above 110, yes the Phoenix area can get much hotter. When I lived that area there was a summer
day when a temperature reached 121, it was unbearably hot, even our swimming pool water was very warm. Those kinds of conditions is why I live in northern Arizona. 🙂

Oh wow really! 👀💕 I thought Arizona would be sooo hot, doesn’t matter if it’s north or south, but wow it definitely give totally different climate🤩 For you, it’s so good, right? You still enjoy cool breezy days…lucky you! My fan is blasting here🤣
And wow…121. 1. 2. 1…Seriously!?😫☀️🥵
I bet people definitely can’t live without having air conditioning…or they should limit the time being outside😱
If I may ask, is there air conditioning in public schools in Arizona? Well it’s totally different story in Japan or Arizona because we never reached even 110F, but unless it’s a private school, we don’t have air conditioning or fan in schools. Also using notebooks or something as a fan is prohibited because it looks rude for teachers. I used to fight over whether to have a little breeze for a short time or get detention😂

In answer to your question, yes all commercial, public and residential buildings have air conditioning in the central and southern parts of Arizona.
In Flagstaff, public and commercial and some residential buildings have air conditioning. Because I live in an area of seasonal weather, some reside

residential buildings have air conditioning, some have evaporative cooling and some like the one I live in has high powered ceiling fans, which we have going now because the home faces south, the rooms can become quite warm.
Temperature wise, we are in the 70’s and 80’s now because we’ve come into our rainy season, so there are many overcast and rainy days. We do reach the lower 90’s several days in the summer, since we are surrounded by pine trees, the shade is very different from trees that have wider heads.
Living in an area that is seasonal weather for me is much more agreeable than hot and warm. When I lived in Florida it was worse, Yes, there was air conditioning in all buildings, but the very high humidity it was extremely uncomfortable. Whenever I went outside in the spring or summer, I was soaking wet within minutes, so I am happy to have drier and more temperate weather.

Oh wow really!👀💕 Thank you so much for telling me Arizona air conditioning situation😊 Now I relieved for kids or even adults. If the temperature goes up like that, it’s just impossible to concentrate on or be in the room🥵 70~90s, it’s bearable but absolutely not 100s or over!😫☀️🥵☀️
And I hear you for the situation in Florida!😂 Starting from June to early July, Japan also gets rainy season and it makes people dull for the high humidity! When it’s humid, my worst enemy from childhood, mosquitos are everywhere!

Giving this one a try in the morning as a change of pace from my green juice/smoothie

Hi Sarah! Hope you like it❤️ And if I may ask you, what kind of greens do you add to your smoothie? I’m chickening out for adding spinach or kale so haven’t tried “green” smoothie yet.

Spinach is the best to start with. Use Kale with a light hand. I like adding frozen zucchini as well. Also fresh mint, basil and parsley from my garden.

It’s actually been unseasonably cooler for the past two days. The news just reported possible monsoons. Hoping we get a little of the rain 🙄
Yes, it is definitely smoothie time. Now I can use all the fruits I have frozen 😁

It didn’t last too long. The cats only worry when it is feeding time but the dog hates the sound of thunder. It makes her bark 🐶🥺

That smoothie is delicious! 🤩 I often prepared too, but we usually add a bit of ginger and a small splash of olive oil to it. I once read that the body needs oil to absorb the vitamins in the smoothie. I don‘t know if it‘s true but that‘s why we add the oil. 😁

Oh wowww really! Ginger sounds somewhat familiar from those who knows how to enjoy herbs like you, but adding olive oil is my first time to hear! Ah yes, some people want to cut all the fat intake, but it’s actually bad for our health…sounds good to relieve stomach problem too! I think I’ll try that🤩👍💕✨ Thank you for fantastic idea❤️
