Tomorrow is National Strawberry Day, so how about grabbing some fresh, gorgeous looking strawberries from the market(or possibly u-pick farm!) and spending some time in the kitchen on this upcoming weekend? It’s supposed to be cooler than the past few days in my local area(although I don’t know if it’s true…the sun is trying to BBQ us!) Some people told me it’s unexpectedly cooler…that means using an oven is still bearable before real summer hits!
When I bake some cakes, my kitchen will be full of the aromatic scent of sweet, fruity, chocolatey, nutty or anything that makes me drool. And whenever baking is concerned, the hardest times come when I remove baking goodies from the oven and let it sit for a while to cool down. Sometimes I can’t wait and poked them too harshly, so my precious cake collapses/teared. If you are a baker, you may understand how I feel…I honestly look for a rewind button like a youtube video has and hope to go back to the time I did wrong.
The cake crumbs look pitiful, but it doesn’t mean I have to throw them away. They still taste good and we can still decorate them just like a cake. So whenever you have some sad accident happen, make some trifle!

- Leftover, post disaster cake – I used this one
- Leftover whipped creams, fruits etc…
- Optional but good to have – Some lemon zest
- Optional but good to have – some fresh mint/large green plant for background
<Directions>
- On the bottom of glass, place some cake crumbs, then cover it with whipped cream. Make it flat as possible.
- Place fruits facing on the wall of a glass. Place whipped cream until it reaches to the same height as the fruits, and continue layering with cake crumbs, fruits and creams.
- Sprinkle some lemon zest and cool it in the fridge. Serve it cold and enjoy!
<Cooking Tips>
Be an artist! Art doesn’t have right or wrong, so listen to what inner you tells you to do.
I didn’t have fresh mint on hand, but wanted some green in a frame so I took the picture outside again. But if you’re not eating them right away, I don’t recommend taking them outside because the cream melts under the bright sun, and hungry insects come flying to sneak in the precious cake!
Happy Friday and weekend, dear! Hope you’ll have a fantastic kitchen activity and enjoy some strawberries:)
