Happy National Hot Dog Day! Did you know, today is the day to enjoy the yummy long buns with juicy sausage!
The key to bring me a smile when a hot dog is concerned…the frank should be bigger than the buns. Who agrees with me? 😉
Let’s cook!

- 2 hot dog buns
- 2 franks of your choice
- some cabbage – shredded
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- some salt and pepper
- Some ketchup
- Some mustard
- Optional but great to have – sauerkraut (I recommend the one from Wildbrine!)
<Directions>
- Pour olive oil in a pan and cook cabbage. Sprinkle some salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- In a different pan, pour olive oil and bring it to medium high heat. Add franks and grill them.
- Toast buns.
- Load the buns with cabbages, franks, and ketchup. Mustard and sauerkraut on the side. Enjoy while it’s hot!
Before I meet sauerkrauts, grilled cabbage was the must to be added in hot dogs…what’s your favorite hot dog toppings?
Today’s post is a quick one. Hopefully you have a wonderful day on this busy day in the middle of the week:)

That hotdog looks delicious! 🤩 I was surprised to read that you don’t put any mayonnaise on it. I thought, people in the U.S. do that, but I personally like the hotdogs – if we ever eat them – just the way you prepared it. 😋

Oh really!? I thought mayo doesn’t belong to hot dogs so surprised to hear that from you🤣 But when I lived in Seattle, there is a famous local version of hot dogs with cream cheese sauce🤤 Maybe because of the climate but dairy up there is so much better for both in taste and price😁 Maybe I should make Seattle version next time😋🌭

I honestly don’t even know if mayo is ok on hotdogs but the Seattle version sounds more appealing to me, too 😁👍

Yes, you are right. Hot dogs are what I call party food. They remind me of BBQs and picnics when I was a kid and I guess even still now as an older lady 😉
