Chocolate Milk

Happy National Chocolate Milk Day!

Did you know, 9/27 is the day to enjoy our sweet dairy drink, Chocolate Milk!

When I heard that chocolate milk is a typical school lunch item, I was too jealous of all American kids. When I was young enough to have school lunch, only milk was allowed, and I didn’t like milk…my happy mealtime had a little torture!

It has chocolate, so of course it’s sweet…mmm, what a heaven to have sweet drinks other than dessert! So who has a chocolate milk lover? You think you gotta enjoy today with having a nice glass of chocolate milk, don’t you?

I hear you, so let’s prepare our favorite drink!

  1. Combine chocolate and milk together and bring it to medium high heat. Carefully stir them to melt chocolate perfectly without the milk getting boiled.

Now that you mentioned it, I remember chocolate milk at lunch in elementary school and that was the late 60s.

Aw I’m jealous of you sir!😫 I have to show your comment to my mom…instead of giving me chocolate milk in the morning, she gave me miso soup on “oh-running-late-but-grab-something-quick-morning”🤣🤣🤣

We had chocolate milk or regular milk at 10 AM in elementary school. In the 1980s 🙂

Oh 10AM!? Wow is that like morning snack time? In Japan we never allowed to eat something until lunch time👀💕 Another point that I’m jealous of😂

Almond milk a nice substitute…Oat Milk is really big right now as well and I like that flavor a bit better…but I am still a Whole Milk drinker, just in coffee only! No low fat or skim milk because they leech the nutrients out of it, making it worse for you….

I’m now stock oat milk in my fridge since it was on sale! I found they are more creamy comparing with almond milk.

Your comment reminded me that I was shocked to see so many varieties of milk in grocery store…whole, low fat, skim, vitamin D…I was like, which one of them is the milk I used to get in my country😂

Milk in school, milk at home, milk on vacation and sometimes straight from the source (I got so fat that year! haha). Today I still drink a lot of milk, not so fat but being reluctant to try almond- and other types if I can find them. That brings me to the question: I see you use almond milk in many of your recipes, can I just use ordinary low fat milk? I’m not sure the store even knows there are alternatives. Also.. hot chocolate milk is such a nice treat. Especially on a cold day.

Hi Kitty, yes for sure, you can use low fat milk instead of almond milk! The reason why I’m using almond milk is that we’re trying to stay on plant based diet. I used to drink ordinal milk from cow, and then switched to soy milk which I don’t see them in my current neighbor. Almond milk is lighter than oat milk or ordinal milk for the point of creaminess, but you can always adjust it based on your preference😊💕

Thanks, I’ll do that then. Never tasted anything but cow milk so – being curious – if I can find the other types I think I’ll try them. Enjoy the cocoa. Maybe add a bit of whipped cream on top. Yummy..
