Product Review – Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal from Proper Good

Happy National Floral Design Day! Let’s have Spring Vibes with floral design today!

When I was in Seattle, March still had so much rain pouring from the gray sky. Snow could be gone in Feb, but still I couldn’t put my jacket/heavy coat in the back of the closet. But here in California, it is incredibly warm everyday. I don’t know when was the last time I wore a jacket that I wore in Seattle. Also a lot of spring blooming flowers are already confused with what season they are in.

I love flowers, both in nature, my clothes, and even my plate, so let’s prepare some fancy breakfast that is nutritious to our body too!

I got a new item from Proper Good, a soup company that has a bunch of perfect gift ideas, so let’s enjoy today with a taste test!

Pro

  • Package – I always find a big grin when I see their package is on my doorstep because the package is so cute! A Complimentary spoon is also a generous gift that is promised on every shopping and I found guessing what color of spoon I got this time was such a fun time.
  • Convenient and nutritious – The oatmeal is ready to eat, so just in 60 seconds it’s ready to be in your stomach. It’s gluten free, plant based, dairy free with high in protein and fiber)both are 6G in an 8oz package.
  • Taste – While taking the first sip, the fun, unique texture entertained my teeth. I usually eat my oatmeal without any additives, so other grains like chia seed, flax seed, and hemp hearts were great additions to the healthy breakfast. I also felt coconut’s mellow flavor too, so this is a perfect oatmeal to enjoy for sweet tooth holders. The pack itself got sea salt as one of the ingredients, but the taste is almost as simple as it could be. The toppings that came with the pack were already intensely sweet enough, so I think you don’t have to pour any maple syrup or extra sugar to enjoy this one.
  • Easy storing – The expiration is long and you can store them in the pantry, not in the fridge, so I recommend this one for your emergency food on busy days.

Cons

  • Value – Maybe the price is what I can think of. I never bought hemp, chia seed, flax seed by myself so I’m not sure what the ordinal price for them are, but when it’s saying $5.99 for a pack of oatmeal, I’d make it on my own since they are easy to cook. If you think about complimentary spoons and the fun package design that is perfect for a gift, the value could be balanced, but for me this is for special occasions meals.
  • Cleaning – The spoon isn’t dishwasher friendly. The paint is easy to crack, so if you’re a busy college student who usually throws utensils in the dishwasher, you’ll see an assaulted spoon after the cycle. The spoon is so cute though…

Thank you so much for Proper Good for the gift ideas, I will find another way to enjoy the product and get more for my precious friend’s birthday gift!

  • 1 packet Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
  • Rosy Berry Apple from this recipe
  • An Sliced Apple Chips

<Directions>

  1. Thinly slice the apple and air fry for 5 min. Flip them and air fry for another 5 min. Set aside.
  2. Warm your oatmeal by using a hot water bath or microwave.
  3. Empty your packet and decorate with berry apple and apple cinnamon toppings that come with oatmeal. Enjoy!

<Cooking Tips>

When you make apple chips, do check your flier constantly. Mine was ok with 5 min on one side and another 5 min for the other side, but your air fryer could be stronger than mine or possibly milder in power so adjust cooking time accordingly.

    More, great breakfast advice! I’d be interested to hear your views on a Japanese breakfast. Much as I love Japanese food, starting the day with a bowl of rice, pickles and miso soup just doesn’t work for me!

      Hi Jeremy!

      Well I think the traditional Japanese breakfast is now become the special food that is enjoyed only when staying at 民宿 or visiting relatives home. Whenever I see rice, miso soup and pickles combo for breakfast, I really feel the hospitality spirits called “おもてなし” from the host.

      They are easy and quick to cook, especially we have a rice cooker with timer today. But even with them, the one who cook the breakfast must get up early to get ready themselves first(imagine when it’s cold morning in winter!), make sure the breakfast set is hot and ready for you, and and see if they like the food and prepare for your second serving whenever you feel like it😜

      The traditional Japanese breakfast is simple and frugal, but behind the food there is people’s warm heart hidden for you to feel not too pushy but keeps you’re comfortable and relaxed❤️ When you have the breakfast in a hotel, it might be a little difficult to feel these hospitality because the food is prepared by machines and you don’t see the cook, but still, I believe the food isn’t just food but their hospitality too.

      I don’t know when I tasted the traditional breakfast last time…to me, my usual breakfast always meant energy bar/jelly while I was running to my local station🤣

    Looks very delicious! Thanks for sharing your review about this oatmeal. I’m sure it tasted great, but I think I’ll still go with my Nasi Campur for breakfast. 😁👍
